Mitsubishi RVR 2022

The third generation of the Mitsubishi RVR was introduced on the market in 2010 and was first introduced in Canada as well as joining the Mitsubishi Familly as a compact and very practical SUV. Like many others, I have been charmed by the RVR since day one. Also, just in case you have no idea what vehicle we are talking about here, it’s because you are outside of Canada, where the RVR is also called the ASX of the Outlander Sport.

The RVR quickly became one of the most popular vehicles in Mitsubishi’s lineup. At first, the RVR lineup was fairly simple, but Mitsubishi upgraded a lot of elements over years. Today, the RVR is 12 years old, which is considered an eternity in the automobile industry, but is it really a problem? In most cases, a new generation comes in after six years, and when you think about it, it gives the engineers only a couple of years to figure out a new figure and solve problems. Therefore, some vehicles are recalled even ten years or more after their introduction on the market.

A Different Strategy

Mitsubishi is no stranger to the idea of extending the life of a vehicle for as long as possible, and t be quite honest with you, I am totally fine with it. The RVR still is a very competitive vehicle even today. It went thru 3 different phases, which means its styling still keeps up with every other vehicle on the market and also with the signature of the brand.

Of course, sales aren’t as good as they used to be for the RVR, but you have to consider the fact there is another compact SUV in Mitsubishi’s lineup nowadays in the form of the Eclipse Cross. There is also the totally new Outlander, which makes things complicated for the RVR. Nevertheless, I think the compact Japanese SUV still has its place on the market, and it’s a vehicle that I can still recommend today.

For 2022, the RVR offers two powertrain options. The first one is a 2.0 liters 4 cylinders that produce 148 hp and 145 foot-pounds of torque. The second is a 2.5 liters 4 cylinders making 168 hp and 167 foot-pounds of torque.

The 2022 RVR is one of the best all-wheel-drive systems on the market, which is very efficient when combined with the CVT. By the way, I usually don’t like this type of transmission, but there are a few vehicles that made me change my mind about Continuously Variable Transmission, and the RVR is definitely one of them.

But I think the 2022 Mitsubishi RVR best sales argument is by far its price point. The Japanese SUV price starts à $ 23 828, which makes it one of the most affordable vehicles in its category and, as a matter of fact, on the market. So yes, even if the Mitsubishi RVR is older than it should be, it is still a very interesting vehicle.
