5 reasons why the 2023 Mazda MX-5 RF is the perfect sports car for Canada

It may not be called the Miata anymore, but the MX-5 remains one of the best sports cars in the world. I thought speed and power were everything a performance vehicle needed to be desirable. Only God knows how wrong I was, and I realized it the first day I drove an MX-5.
Since then, I have driven all four Japanese compact sports car generations, and I loved each one in its way. Nevertheless, all Miata/MX-5 generations have some point in common, and there could be the answer to why these cars are so good. However, Mazda decided to do things differently for the fourth generation MX-5 by introducing the MX-5 RF. By the way, in case you didn’t know, RF stands for a retractable roof which is nothing too fancy and straight to the point. I liked every MX-5 version I’ve driven, but if I had to choose one over every other, it would be the MX-5 RF. Therefore, I suggest we look at what makes the RF the MX-5 best version ever and even the perfect sports car for Canada.
1 – Weather
Of course, a retractable hard roof makes the MX-5 way more interesting for people who want to drive their sports car all year round. It is still a rear-wheel-drive sports car which isn’t the best for the winter season, but the hard roof will last longer in the harsh condition of Canada’s winter.
2 – Comfort
That doesn’t change much when you are driving with the top down. However, noise can be pretty overwhelming when the top is up, especially for the soft top MX-5. I honestly find the RF offers a better soundproof interior. It wouldn’t matter if Mazda didn’t offer a hard roof option, but I don’t think I would consider a soft top since it's there.
3 – Performance
Like the soft-top convertible MX-5, the MX-5 RF is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 181 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. However, I suspect the structure of the car is stronger thanks to the hard retractable roof, making the car behave a little better on twisty roads.
4 – Practicality
I know it doesn’t change much more for most people, but the MX-5 RF roof doesn’t take much more cargo space than the soft top when it is down. This means you don’t have to make any compromises for the cargo space, regardless of the version you prefer.
5 – Style
The Mazda MX-5 is beautiful regardless of the version you select. However, the RF is better looking, especially when the top is up.
