While the automotive industry currently focuses on sport utility vehicles, some cars still manage to shine and sell like hotcakes. This is especially true for the Audi A5, which is more popular than ever. The German manufacturer seems to have found a comfortable niche for its compact car, which has been enjoying significant success for several years. It must be said that the A5 offers a vast and balanced range while remaining relatively accessible for a luxury car. The introduction of the sedan version has completely changed the game for the A5, which is now one of the most desirable luxury cars in the industry.

The Audi A5 offers some new features for 2024 in terms of options. Engineers have also done a complete revision of the suspension for the Komfort version to make it even more enjoyable to drive. Otherwise, it's a car that meets the needs and whims of the majority of buyers.

Range and Prices

There are three body options in the Audi A5 range, starting with the classic two-door Coupe version that we've known since the model arrived on the market. The latter has a starting price of $62,415. The Coupe version is also available in the S5 and RS5 variants with respective base prices of $73,065 and $98,415. Next is the sedan with a starting price of $59,615, making it also the least expensive variant of the entire A5 family. Again, we have access to the S5 and RS5 versions for $73,615 and $98,915, respectively. Finally, the Audi A5 is also available in a convertible version with a starting price of $73,915 for the A5 version and $84,015 for the S5 version. As you can see, there is no RS5 variant for this version, which is a shame in my opinion.

Category and Competition

Luxury compact cars are more popular than ever, thanks to models like the A5. It has always been consistent and offers an experience not found in mainstream brands at a reasonable price. As for the competition, the A5 stands out from its rivals thanks to its diversity, but also its solid reputation for reliability.

Rivals: Acura TLX, Alfa Romeo Giulia, BMW 4 Series, Cadillac CT5, Genesis G70, Infiniti Q50, Lexus IS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Volvo S60

Design and Technologies

The Audi A5 is one of the few cars in its category that focuses on evolution rather than revolution. You can put a model that's 10 or even 20 years old next to a 2024 model, and you'll quickly see that it's the same car except for being modernized. This formula works wonders as the A5 is still very popular today, and I believe it's even more appreciated than ever.

What I particularly like about the A5 is its muscular yet sophisticated look. It's an imposing car on the road and has a presence unlike any other. It also offers a nice palette of varied and eccentric colors.

The interior of the A5 is among the most modern in the industry. Audi was one of the first manufacturers to offer a digital dashboard, and the display is absolutely stunning. The interior finish is impeccable, and it's a car that remains quite spacious for a compact model. Audi has also improved driving aids for 2024, making the car even more enticing.

Performance

The Audi A5 offers three options in terms of mechanics, starting with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. This is paired with a mild hybrid system, bringing its total power to 261 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard. With this engine, the German car is capable of achieving an average consumption of 8.6 L/100 km.

Now we move on to the S5 version with its 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which develops 349 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Here, we get a certain level of performance while enjoying an elegant and civilized car. Moreover, this one offers an 8-speed gearbox. Finally, it's also at the top of the range where we find the RS5 version, a significantly more radical car. This one features a 2.9-liter V6 engine that develops 444 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The Audi RS5 is capable of reaching 0-100 km/h in less than 3.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 280 km/h.

Weaknesses

The rear seats are not particularly spacious in the Coupe version as well as for the convertible. A convertible RS5 version is missing from the range. The price rises rapidly from one version to another.

Strengths

It's an elegant and very comfortable car. The Audi A5 offers cutting-edge technologies and certainly one of the most beautiful graphical presentations in the industry. Its finishing quality is simply impeccable.

Signature Element

The A5 is one of the most popular cars in the Audi family, and for good reason. It's a model that stands out for its style, reliability, and overall quality.

Closing Word

Luxury cars tend to age poorly in general due to their bold design. However, the Audi A5 has proven to be a true champion in this regard. It's the kind of car that will always remain current.
