That’s It: No More Ghost Vehicle in Canada

If you’ve never heard of it, what we are referring to as ghost vehicles are the ones without automatic operating lights. I know it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but several accidents have been caused by this lack of this feature, believe it or not. This problem has been the federal government's target for a long time now, but the wait is finally over since there is a new law effusive now that force manufacturer to install one of three possible systems in their new vehicle.

The first system consists of a driver’s panel that stays dark to remind the driver to turn the lights on. The second option requires headlights, taillights, and a side marcher to turn on as soon the lighting condition gets darker. Finally. The last option force to turn on any daytime running lights when the instrument panel is illuminated.

What if my old car has none of those?

As I mentioned earlier, the Government requires new vehicles only to be equipped with one of those technologies. So you can be reassured if you drive an older or even a very recent car without anything like that. However, the Government wants to remind you to be as careful as possible and always turn your lights on when driving in low-light situations. It’s imperative when there’s fog or snow since visibility is even worse.

This new regulation has been conjointly developed with CAA; the Canadian Automobile Association following its campaign « See can be seen .»

Safety tech is helpful for young drivers.

A recent study proved that passives and active safety features such as adaptative cruise control, automatic emergency braking system, blind-spot monitoring systems, lane-keep assist and many other safety tech like that helped a lot of young drivers to avoid accidents.

Young drivers have fewer experiences, and they just might not know out to handle some emergency. Sometimes the problem is even before they start to drive since they are more willing to take a risk. Ford is one of the only manufacturers that are offering a system that allows you to program the second with certain limitations, such as the volume of the radio and even the top speed. This help to reduce accident a lot. Also, there are many new apps that provide you information about your kid's driving session. Some will say this is a bit extreme, but as a parent myself, I think we never take enough precaution when it comes to our child's safety.
