Usually, when you buy a brand-new vehicle, you get to deliver, your salesman shows you some basic stuff, screws the license plate on, and you are all by yourself. Things are a little different with Land Rover. The British manufacturer is offering different driving experiences to its new customers so they can fully envoy the capacities of their Land Rover.

As you may know, we live in a Nordic country where snow and ice cover roads for several months every year. Therefore, Land Rover offers a winter driving experience thru the Ice Academy. The Ice Academy is one of three extreme driving experiences offered by the British manufacturer. To perfect your skills, you can also choose the Moab rock-climbing experience or the Sub-Saharan Africa driving experience, where you can learn how to drive on the sand. For the Ice Academy, you have a flight to Sweden to participate. If this is too much expense or organization for you, don’t worry since Land Rover offers many driving programs near most of their dealers.

The Ice Academy

The Ice Academy offers a unique driving experience where you can drive your Land Rover Range Rover for four days. Day one is the arrival in Arjeplog, where they will bring you to the Hotel Silverhatten. The second day is far more interesting because you learn how to maintain a constant drift angle by driving on a frozen lake. The third day focuses more on the safety aspect of driving on ice. On the 4th day, you drive to the Arctic circle with other Land Rover owners.

The Ice Academy experience isn’t limited to your vehicle driving skills improvement. During those four days, you will take part in a snowmobile trip and get a husky dogsled experience.

Of course, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport owners aren’t the only vehicle you can bring to this experience. It is accessible to anybody. However, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport is the vehicle chosen by the Ice Academy Team for most of the 2023 event. Land Rover Range Rover Velar and Land Rover Range Rover Evoque will also be available for other activities for the 2023 Ice Academy. There is a mix of left and right-hand-drive vehicles. People are coming from anywhere in the world to experience this.

The Ice Academy also allows you to bring a non-driver participant with you. This person can enjoy a Sweden authentic hotel experience and all the activities offered during the four days. I am not saying you could sell this trip to your partner as some vacation, but I imagine it would rather say that than the fact you want to learn how to drift on a frozen lake in a luxury and sporty vehicle.

If this is something you’d like to experience as a proud Land Rover vehicle owner, I strongly suggest you get a reservation as soon as possible since places are limited. There are only 20 persons per group, and the Ice Academy is open for February and March only.
