While the majority of automakers have chosen to focus on trucks and SUVs, some still believe that there is a place for cars in the market, which is why we present to you today a Top 10 on the subject.

Unlike compact and subcompact cars, midsize cars can afford some artifices. These are models that manufacturers generally use to test new technologies or to present new concepts. Sometimes, it's a total failure, but sometimes the result is rather impressive.

Those who know me know that I am a big fan of cars and that I much prefer the comfort and driving experience of a midsize car to that of an equivalent SUV. Anyway, it's all a matter of taste and choice. If, like me, you're a fan of midsize cars, I hope you'll agree with my choices here.

9 — 2024 Subaru Legacy

We start directly with the 9th position here, as unfortunately there are not enough models in this segment to make up a Top 10. As you have probably noticed, this Top 9 starts and ends with a Subaru model. The Legacy shares many elements with the Outback. So why doesn't it rank higher? The Japanese manufacturer's sedan is a very interesting and pleasant car to drive. However, it has nothing particularly exciting to offer, and its design remains one of the most anonymous in the category.

8 — 2024 Chevrolet Malibu

There was a time when almost all taxi cars were Chevrolet Malibus, which says a lot about the model. It's a very comfortable, spacious car, and its reliability is very impressive. Chevrolet has placed a lot of emphasis on its SUV range and its electric models in recent times, which means that the Malibu is no longer as special as it used to be. It's a shame because the American manufacturer's sedan has been part of its lineup for many decades.

7 — 2024 Nissan Altima

In my opinion, the Nissan Altima is one of the most underestimated cars in the industry. Yet, it's one of the most comfortable and best-insulated cars in its category. Its ergonomics have been well thought out. It's also a car that stands out aesthetically from the crowd.

6 — 2024 Kia K5

Kia is one of the few manufacturers that seem genuinely keen on keeping sedans in the market. The K5 is one of the most modern and visually spectacular cars. Plus, it's packed with technology and remains very fun to drive.

5 — 2024 Hyundai Sonata

It's hard to beat the Hyundai Sonata in terms of value for money. It's a car that offers a fully comprehensive standard equipment package and cutting-edge technologies that are rarely found elsewhere. Its parking assistance system is simply mind-blowing.

4 — 2024 Toyota Crown

Toyota took a big gamble with the launch of the Crown in North America. The brand builds its success on consistency and evolution with well-known appellations. Nevertheless, it seems that the Crown quickly established a solid reputation in the North American market. It's a car unlike any other. Its price is a bit high, but it's still a Toyota, which means it should retain its value well over the years.

3 — 2024 Honda Accord

The Honda Accord is a solid choice in the midsize car segment. The hybrid version is devilishly efficient and very pleasant to drive. Unlike most of its rivals, the Accord doesn't go overboard. It's a very down-to-earth car. Some criticize its overly sober design, but it's something I personally like a lot. It gives the car a more serious look.

2 — 2024 Toyota Camry

You can't talk about midsize cars without mentioning the Toyota Camry. The Japanese manufacturer has worked wonders with it in recent years. It's undoubtedly one of the most interesting cars in its category. If you work on the road, you'll hardly find anything better. Not to mention, it retains excellent long-term resale value.

1 — 2024 Subaru Outback

The Subaru Outback is once again the queen of midsize cars. It's so different from the others, and that's what makes it so interesting. The most ironic thing is that if you just look at what it offers on paper, it should be the most boring car in its category, but that's far from the truth. The Subaru Outback is the coolest family car in history. Plus, it boasts solid off-road driving capabilities. In fact, it's capable of making some SUVs blush. The Subaru Outback is not only the best midsize car on the market. I also consider it superior to many SUVs.
