Reliability is one thing when it comes to new vehicles, but it's another when dealing with a vehicle that has already covered a good distance. I know, it may seem pointless to consider a car that already has 300,000 kilometers on the odometer. However, there are exceptions, vehicles that, even with such high mileage, start every morning and cost almost nothing to maintain. In fact, one realizes that the idea isn't as bad as it seems when you start doing the math.

Looking at vehicles with over 300,000 kilometers can also be a good indicator of newer vehicles that could benefit from better long-term durability. In short, it's the kind of thing that makes us think, which is why I decided to compile a top 10 list of vehicles with over 300,000 kilometers that, in my opinion, deserve consideration. For the sake of variety, I've limited myself to a maximum of two vehicles per brand, as you can imagine, this list could have been dominated by almost identical models from the same family.

10 — GMC Yukon/Chevrolet Suburban

The American SUV duo displays appalling fuel consumption, but that's about the only thing you can fault them for. Otherwise, the GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Suburban are still among the most reliable and durable vehicles in their category. It's not uncommon to see a model surpass 300,000 kilometers and even more. Additionally, these American SUVs offer some off-road driving capabilities, and their towing capacity remains impressive.

9 — Mazda MX-5

Looking for a small convertible that will accompany you on your adventures throughout your retirement? Look no further, because the Mazda MX-5 is the perfect car for you. It's one of the few cars in its segment that is practically unaffected by time and mileage. It remains very robust and enjoyable to drive. That's why I highly recommend it, regardless of the year or the number of kilometers on the odometer.

8 — Nissan Altima

If you're like me and pay attention to the cars you see on the road, you've probably noticed that there are still tons of old Nissan Altimas out there. Talking to several owners, I realized that it's a very durable car, but also inexpensive to maintain. It's also a car that tends to be more affordable than its rivals in the used car market, which is great news for buyers on a tighter budget.

7 — Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is the best-selling vehicle in North America year after year. Sure, it's the subject of many jokes, but the fact is that the American manufacturer's truck is rugged, durable, and very well-designed. There are hundreds of models for sale online with over 300,000 kilometers. The same can be said of all trucks, but it seems that the F-150 is the one that tends to retain the best resale value and offers the best long-term durability.

6 — Subaru Outback/Legacy

Subaru is known for its legendary all-wheel drive, but the brand can also boast of offering some of the most durable and robust cars in the world. This is particularly true for the Outback and the Legacy. These cars tend to age better than average.

5 — Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in the world of all time, it's a fact. This popularity is explained by many factors, starting with the fact that the Corolla is an incredibly durable car. That was true 20 years ago and it's still true today. It's the kind of car you can buy with your eyes closed without fearing you'll go wrong.

4 — Hyundai Elantra

How many kilometers do you think you can drive with a Hyundai Elantra before it's ready for the junkyard, 300,000, 400,000? Well, someone has already driven over 1,000,000 kilometers with their Elantra, proving that the little Korean car can handle much more than we imagine.

3 — Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is an excellent choice, regardless of its age or mileage. It's the kind of car that you can certainly drive for more than 300,000 kilometers with minimal maintenance costs.

2 — Toyota Camry

If you want a car that can go over 300,000 kilometers and everything still works inside, the Toyota Camry is for you. The Japanese manufacturer's sedan is one of the most durable cars in the industry.

1 — Honda Accord

Over time and miles, cars tend to wear out and start creaking everywhere. However, this is not the case with the Honda Accord, which is one of the most robust cars in the long run. If you're the type to change your cars every 10 or 20 years and you drive over 30,000 kilometers per year, you won't find better.
