Behind every car, there is a great man or woman, and it is important to pay tribute to them when they take their last breath. Today, I am talking about Marcello Gandini, the father of the Alfa Romeo Montreal, the Lamborghini Countach, and many other legendary cars.

Marcello was born on August 26, 1938, in Turin, Italy, and he passed away at the age of 85. The Italian designer quickly built a solid reputation in the automobile industry. He joined the Bertone team in the 1960s. In total, he remained with the company for 14 years, during which time he created some of the most iconic cars in automotive history.

Exceptional cars

Gandini is known, notably, for the Alfa Romeo Montreal, a car named in honor of the Canadian city. However, the designer also worked on many interesting projects such as the De Tomaso Pantera, the Ferrari 308 GT4, or the Lamborghini Miura and Countach, two of the brand's most iconic cars. In my opinion, and that of many others, the Lamborghini Miura is one of the most beautiful cars to have ever existed.

The Italian designer is also behind some of the most well-known racing cars in the world, such as the Lancia Stratos.

Gandini was an exceptional designer, and he demonstrated it on numerous occasions. He didn't just create exceptional cars. He was also behind several mass-production models like the Volkswagen Polo or the second-generation Renault 5.

Marcello Gandini left his mark on the 1960s and 1970s with his creations, and he is now recognized as one of the greatest designers in automotive history. That is why we have decided to pay him one final tribute.
